Cambridge University Press Turns to Aptara to Help Launch The Cambridge Collection

Challenge Create Compelling Book Summaries

To effectively promote Cambridge’s books of scholarly importance, compelling copy was needed for book jackets, websites and other marketing materials. Aptara’s seasoned editors and writers read excerpts from hundreds of works to comprehend each book’s scope and then created:

  • a one-line description of each book’s content
  • a 50-word summary of each book’s content to be used on website ads and
  • a 150-word overview clearly stating the importance of each book to scholarly literature

Solution Processing Archaic and Obscure Texts

The wide range of topics, which included the works of Shakespeare, historical travel memoirs, mathematics, science and music, posed a challenge that was met by Aptara’s exceptional literary subject matter experts. Some of the content was written in obsolete languages or covered historic and esoteric topics, while many titles required in-depth research on the author’s contribution to the scholarly field.

Results Gratitude for a Challenging Job Exceptionally Well Done

Aptara received special thanks from Cambridge University Press for an excellent job and was awarded significantly more titles across new subject areas. Aptara’s extra efforts allowed Cambridge to focus on the launch of its special collection.

The project has now been made public and details can be found here: http://www.cambridge.org/clc.
