ARVO and Aptara announce a 3-year partnership to collect open access article processing charges in conjunction with full-service journal production

Partnership will result in a fully integrated journal solution based on Aptara’s SciPris platform

Falls Church, VA, October 15, 2019–

Aptara has partnered with ARVO to provide an integrated ARVO-branded online platform to collect open access (OA) and article processing charges as part of a full-service journal solution.
Aptara’s SciPris platform automates the calculation of various publishing charges using customer-specific business rules, provides a user-friendly payment gateway, and gives publishers insight through alerts and custom reports. Being able to adapt to each publisher’s unique workflows, peer review and production systems and collection categories is critical, especially in this fast-changing OA landscape. This platform is now tightly integrated with Aptara’s end-to-end journal production solution for issue management, editorial, composition and multi-channel content delivery. ARVO Director of Journals Jon Mallett said, "We look forward to the journal production service that Aptara offers, including excellent quality, significantly shorter processing time, and an efficient and user friendly experience for authors when interacting with proofs and making payments for article processing charges. ”
“At Aptara, we’re blending our technology solutions like SciPris with full service journal production to create a seamless end-to-end solution for publishers that captures critical revenue in parallel to content creation and delivery”, said Samir Kakar, President of Aptara. “We are delighted to be partnering with ARVO in the ever-changing landscape of STM journal publishing.”
